English soccer star Michelle Agyemang, darts player Luke Littler and cricket star Davina Perrin have been selected as contenders for the 2025 Young Athlete of the Year award.

The three finalists have been honoured for their outstanding achievements over the last year.

Agyemang was instrumental as the Lionesses claim victory in Euro 2025, Littler won the world title for the first time, and Perrin rose to fame with a record-breaking innings.

Littler claimed this honour in 2024 after his breakthrough year.

The three contenders were revealed during a live broadcast on a popular morning radio program.

The 2025 recipient will be unveiled on the Sports Personality of the Year show on December 18th.

The event will be broadcast from seven in the evening GMT.

The Football Star

Age: 19 Sport: Football

Just three months after her international debut, Agyemang played a crucial and game-changing role in England's run to European Championship victory.

She entered the fray to score vital last-gasp goals in both the quarter-final and semi-final.

These match-saving moments led to her being named Young Player of the Tournament.

Later in the year, she was awarded the Golden Girl award for the top young European talent.

She was also in contention for the Kopa Trophy for the world's best under-21 female player.

Agyemang, who has been playing for Brighton on loan from Arsenal, suffered an ACL injury in October.

"Being nominated for this honour is an honour," said Agyemang. "I thank God and I'm thankful for the support I've received from my inner circle and supporters."

Luke Littler

Age: 18 Sport: Darts

The year started for Littler in spectacular fashion as - while still 17 - he became the most youthful world title winner in history.

He secured a comprehensive triumph over Michael van Gerwen in the final.

His subsequent victory at the World Matchplay made him only the fifth player to complete the prestigious three major tournament wins.

And he wasn't finished there - his victory at November's Grand Slam of Darts meant he climbed to world number one for the very first time.

At 18, he is the earliest achiever to do so, smashing the previous record.

"Earning a spot on the shortlist for Young Sports Personality of the Year is a massive accolade," stated Littler. "My victory in 2024 was a proud moment for me and I've had another unbelievable 12 months. I want to continue raising the profile of darts."

Perrin's Profile

Age: 19 Sport: Cricket

Perrin is one of English cricket's top prospects and rose to fame with an extraordinary and record-breaking innings in August.

Her brilliant 42-ball century in The Hundred is the fastest by an English woman in T20s.

It also stands as the joint third-fastest women's T20 century in a top-tier competition.

Perrin finished second in the season's run tally and was named the Professional Cricketers' Association's top young women's player.

"I'm deeply humbled to be shortlisted for the young athlete award," expressed Perrin. "It means a great deal. I hope it encourages more girls to get into cricket."
